Senior member of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard shot dead outside his home

Iran’s senior member of the Revolutionary Guard was shot dead by two unidentified gunmen outside his home in Tehran on Sunday. the guard didn’t give many details about the attack but blamed “global arrogance” for the killing.

In broad daylight, on Sunday two gunmen riding a motorcycle reportedly shot Colonel Sayad Khodai five times in a car outside his home. So far, no group has claimed the responsibility for the killing. The authorities say that they have initiated the investigation.

The attack is considered one of the biggest security breaches in Iran since 2020 when the nuclear scientist was killed.

Images of the scene of the attack have also emerged on the internet, showing a man covered with blood, lifeless with his seatbelt still on.

The victim of the attack, Colonel Khodai was a senior member of the elite Quds Force, a shadowy external arm of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) that carries out operations abroad. 

The West has inthe past accused the force of encouraging terrorist groups responsible for attacks across the Middle East.
