Setalvad, Sreekumar sent to 14-day judicial custody

Gujarat’s former DGP RB Sreekumar and social activist Teesta Setalvad were on Saturday sent to judicial custody for 14 days by Ahmedabad court after the charges of conspiracy were slapped on them. The Supreme court had said they, for their ulterior motives, were constantly highlighting the 2002 Gujarat riots.


After completion of the period of police custody and the investigation officer not asking for further custody, Teesta and Sreekumar appeared before the additional chief metro magistrate MV Chauhan, they were sent to 14-day judicial custody. 


During Setalvad’s time in Sabarmati Central Jail, her lawyer had said that her life is in danger in prison. 


Setalvad was arrested after home minister Amit Shah alleged that her NGO had spread inaccurate information about the 2002 Gujarat riots to mislead the people. she was held by Gujarat Anit-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Mumbai and was taken to Gujarat. Sreekumar was arrested a day before Setalvad’s arrest on the basis of FIR lodged against him.
