Singer KK dies: “Saddened by the untimely demise” tweets PM Modi

The singer was in Kolkata for a concert. After performing on Tuesday, he went to the hotel where he reportedly collapsed. KK was rushed to Kolkata’s CMRI Hospital around 10 pm but was declared dead on arrival

The nation was struck with a shock when the news of the untimely demise of renowned singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as KK, broke. The singer passed away on Tuesday evening, May 31. 



The singer was in Kolkata for a concert. After performing on Tuesday, he went to the hotel where he reportedly collapsed. KK was rushed to Kolkata’s CMRI Hospital around 10 pm but was declared dead on arrival.



Prime Minister Narendra Modi mourned the death of KK. In a tweet, the PM said he was saddened by the death of the singer.



“Saddened by the untimely demise of noted singer Krishnakumar Kunnath popularly known as KK. His songs reflected a wide range of emotions and struck a chord with people of all age groups. We will always remember him through his songs. Condolences to his family and fans. Om Shanti”, tweeted PM Modi.



Vice President Venkaiah Naidu also extended his condolence and said that the death of KK is a big blow to the music world.



"Anguished by the sudden demise of renowned singer, Shri Krishnakumar Kunnath. Known for his soulful voice and melodious singing Shri KK's demise is a huge loss to the world of music. Om Shanti!" Naidu tweeted.



Bollywood singer Shreya Goshal was also shocked after the sudden demise of KK. She tweeted, "I am unable to wrap my head around this news. Numb. #KK Why! This is too hard to accept! The heart is shattered in pieces."



Actor-director Farhan Akhtar was also among the list of people who offered condolence to the family of singer KK. 



"Stunned to hear that KK has passed away brother you’ve gone too soon. My deepest condolences to the family. This is heartbreaking." Akhtar tweeted.
