On Saturday evening Vasant Apartment in Vasant Vihar was engulfed in shock when the bodies of a woman and two daughters were found in their Delhi flat. On investigating, police declared that the trio had committed suicide by turning their flat into a “gas chamber" and suffocated to death.

On Saturday at 8.55 pm, the police were informed that the flat number 207 of Vasant Apartment in Vasant Vihar was locked from the inside and its residents were not responding when neighbors tried to contact them.

Eventually, when police reached the flat and managed to get inside, it was found that gas cylinders were partially opened. On searching the flat, a suicide note was also found there, a police official said.

Also, it was mentioned on the suicide note that anyone entering the flat should not light the match as it could break the fire.

“On checking the inner room, three bodies were found lying on the bed and three small ‘angithi’ were kept in the room. It is presumed that they have died due to suffocation,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Manoj C said.

The deceased were identified as Manju and her daughters Anshika and Anku, the police said.

After investigating, it was found that Manju’s husband had died last year after contracting Covid-19. Since then the family was battling depression and ultimately lost by committing suicide.
