Kolkata Police have arrested 11 people in connection with the violence and attacks on journalists during the July 24 protest rally in central Kolkata. Police said the accused were allegedly involved in vandalism, assaulting media personnel and creating unrest during the demonstration.
According to the police, none of the 11 arrested are students. Officials described them as "troublemakers" who allegedly infiltrated the rally and were responsible for the violence. Several FIRs have been registered, and investigators are analysing CCTV footage and other evidence to identify additional suspects.
The clashes left multiple journalists injured and prompted widespread condemnation from media organisations. Authorities have assured strict action against all those found responsible, while the investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
