A 23-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by a group of youths in Delhi’s Uttam Nagar area following a dispute related to money, police said on Saturday. The incident took place in southwest Delhi and has once again raised concerns over rising violent crimes involving young people in the national capital.
According to police officials, the deceased has been identified as Bobby Gupta, a resident of Amritpuri in outer Delhi’s Ranhola area. Investigators said Gupta had recently come out of Tihar Jail before the fatal attack took place. Preliminary investigation suggests that the murder was linked to an ongoing monetary dispute between Gupta and the accused group.
Police said the incident occurred late at night when Gupta reportedly got into an argument with several youths. The confrontation quickly turned violent, and the attackers allegedly stabbed him multiple times before fleeing from the spot. Local residents informed police after spotting Gupta lying seriously injured. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Soon after the murder, police teams launched an investigation and carried out raids in multiple locations to trace the accused. Officials confirmed that five suspects, including one juvenile, have already been apprehended in connection with the case. Efforts are currently underway to identify and arrest the remaining people involved in the attack.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas and questioning witnesses to piece together the sequence of events leading up to the killing. Police sources said the accused and the victim were known to each other and had reportedly been involved in financial disagreements for some time.
The murder has created panic among residents of Uttam Nagar and nearby localities. Many locals expressed concern over increasing incidents of stabbings and gang-related violence in Delhi. Residents have demanded stronger police patrolling and stricter action against criminal groups operating in residential areas.
Delhi Police said further investigation is in progress and additional arrests are likely in the coming days. Officers are also trying to determine whether the murder was pre-planned or if the violence escalated suddenly during the argument.
The case adds to a series of recent violent incidents reported from different parts of Delhi, where disputes over money, personal rivalry and local conflicts have increasingly resulted in deadly attacks. Authorities have assured that all those involved in the Uttam Nagar murder case will be brought to justice after a thorough investigation.
