Gurugram: Three men were seen performing dangerous stunts on SUVs on the Dwarka Expressway, causing panic among commuters and disrupting traffic flow in the area on Monday.
According to reports, the incident took place on a busy stretch of the expressway when the group allegedly drove multiple sports utility vehicles in a reckless manner, blocking lanes and performing risky manoeuvres for social media videos. The act led to traffic congestion and forced several vehicles to slow down or stop abruptly.
Eyewitnesses said the SUVs were being driven at high speed at certain points before suddenly swerving and creating obstruction on the road. Some commuters recorded videos of the incident, which later circulated on social media platforms, drawing criticism over the growing trend of stunt driving on public roads.
The incident occurred on the Dwarka Expressway, a key highway that connects Delhi and Gurugram and often witnesses heavy traffic during peak hours. The reckless driving reportedly caused inconvenience to office-goers and other daily commuters using the route.
Local police in Gurugram have taken note of the viral videos and said that efforts are underway to identify the individuals involved. Officials stated that such dangerous behaviour not only violates traffic rules but also poses a serious risk to public safety.
Preliminary information suggests that the SUVs involved may have been part of a convoy, and investigators are checking vehicle registration details to trace the owners. Police have also indicated that strict legal action will be taken once the accused are identified.
Authorities have repeatedly warned against performing stunts on public roads, highlighting that such acts can lead to accidents, injuries, or even fatalities. Despite awareness campaigns and enforcement drives, incidents of reckless driving for social media content continue to be reported in parts of the National Capital Region.
Traffic officials said they are reviewing CCTV footage from toll plazas and nearby surveillance systems to gather evidence related to the incident. Additional patrol units may also be deployed on the expressway to prevent similar violations in the future.
Residents and regular commuters have expressed concern over the rising number of such incidents, urging stricter enforcement and heavier penalties for offenders. Many have called for enhanced monitoring on major highways to ensure road safety.
The investigation is ongoing, and further details are expected once police complete verification and identify those involved in the stunt-driving case.
