At least six people were killed and several others injured after a passenger bus overturned on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in Unnao on Tuesday, police officials said.
According to preliminary reports, the bus was travelling along the expressway when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn. The impact left several passengers trapped inside the damaged bus, triggering a large-scale rescue operation.
Police, highway patrol teams and emergency responders rushed to the accident site shortly after receiving information about the crash. Rescue personnel worked to evacuate passengers and shift the injured to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Officials confirmed that six people lost their lives in the accident, while several others sustained injuries of varying severity. Some of the injured are reported to be in critical condition and are undergoing treatment under medical supervision.
Eyewitnesses said the bus overturned suddenly before skidding across a portion of the roadway. Authorities are investigating whether overspeeding, driver fatigue, a mechanical failure or road conditions contributed to the accident.
