A shocking case of robbery and kidnapping has come to light from South Delhi’s Sainik Farms area, where a 72-year-old chartered accountant was allegedly abducted from his residence and robbed by four accused. Police have arrested all four suspects involved in the crime and recovered a major portion of the stolen valuables.
According to police officials, the incident took place earlier this week when the elderly man was alone at his house in Sainik Farms. The accused reportedly entered the residence by posing as service personnel and later threatened the victim before forcibly taking cash, jewellery and other valuables from the house.
Investigators said the accused then kidnapped the senior citizen in his own vehicle and drove around different parts of the city for several hours. During the ordeal, the victim was allegedly pressured to reveal bank account details and other financial information. Police said the accused also withdrew money using the victim’s bank cards.
After being released by the kidnappers, the victim approached the police and lodged a complaint. Based on CCTV footage, mobile phone tracking and technical surveillance, Delhi Police launched an investigation and identified the suspects within a short period.
Officials confirmed that all four accused have now been arrested from different locations in and around Delhi. Police also recovered stolen cash, jewellery, mobile phones and the vehicle used in the crime. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had prior criminal records and had planned the robbery after gathering information about the victim’s financial background.
Senior police officers stated that the accused are being interrogated to determine whether they were involved in similar crimes targeting elderly residents living alone in upscale neighbourhoods.
The incident has once again raised concerns about the safety of senior citizens in the national capital, particularly in isolated residential areas. Police have advised residents, especially elderly people, to verify the identity of visitors and domestic workers before allowing entry into their homes.
Further investigation into the case is currently underway.
