Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Monday launched a sharp attack on the Central government over the recent increase in LPG cylinder prices, sarcastically remarking that “Achhe Din have arrived” for the people of India.
Reacting to the latest hike in cooking gas prices, Thackeray alleged that the burden of inflation continues to fall on ordinary citizens while the government remains indifferent to their struggles. He said the increase in LPG prices would further strain household budgets, particularly affecting middle-class families, women, and economically weaker sections who are already grappling with rising living costs.
Addressing reporters in Mumbai, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader criticized the BJP-led government for what he described as a widening gap between promises and reality. Referring to the BJP's long-standing slogan of “Achhe Din,” Thackeray said the latest fuel price increase reflects the challenges faced by common people rather than any improvement in their daily lives.
The LPG price revision has triggered political reactions from several opposition parties across the country. Critics argue that repeated increases in fuel and cooking gas prices have contributed to higher household expenses and inflationary pressure. Opposition leaders have accused the Centre of failing to provide relief despite global fluctuations in energy prices.
Thackeray also claimed that rising prices of essential commodities, transportation, and cooking fuel have made life increasingly difficult for families. He urged the government to reconsider policies that directly impact household expenditures and take measures to ease the financial burden on citizens.
Meanwhile, the Central government has maintained that fuel pricing decisions are influenced by international market conditions, import costs, and broader economic considerations. Government representatives have also pointed to various welfare schemes and subsidies aimed at supporting vulnerable sections of society.
The LPG price hike has once again become a major political issue, with opposition parties seeking to highlight concerns over inflation and the cost of living. Analysts believe the debate is likely to intensify as political parties continue to use economic issues to mobilize public opinion ahead of upcoming electoral contests.
As discussions over fuel prices continue, consumers across the country remain concerned about the impact of higher cooking gas costs on monthly household budgets. The issue is expected to remain at the center of political discourse in the coming weeks, with both the government and opposition defending their respective positions.
