Raipur: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday launched Chhattisgarh’s upgraded emergency response system, flagging off 400 next-generation Dial-112 vehicles along with mobile forensic science vans in Raipur, in a major push to strengthen policing and crime investigation in the state.
The initiative, called “Next Gen CG Dial-112”, is designed to integrate multiple emergency services under a single platform. It will combine police, fire, medical assistance, women’s helpline, child protection services and disaster response into one coordinated system for faster public support.
Officials said the 400 newly deployed vehicles are equipped with advanced technology such as GPS tracking, smartphones, wireless communication systems, dash cameras and real-time monitoring tools. The system will allow authorities to track vehicles live and respond more quickly to emergencies across the state.
Alongside this, the Home Minister also inaugurated mobile forensic science laboratory vans, which will operate as “science on wheels”. These vans are intended to help investigators collect and examine evidence directly at crime scenes, reducing delays in sending materials to laboratories and improving the accuracy of investigations.
According to officials, one forensic van will be deployed in each district, enabling on-the-spot testing of samples such as fingerprints, digital evidence, and biological materials. This is expected to strengthen the state’s evidence-based policing system and speed up criminal trials.
The upgraded Dial-112 service will now cover all 33 districts of Chhattisgarh, expanding its reach beyond the earlier limited coverage. The system will function round the clock and allow citizens to seek help through calls, SMS, mobile apps, WhatsApp, and other digital platforms.
State leaders present at the event described the initiative as a major step towards modernising law enforcement and improving public safety. They said it will help reduce emergency response time and enhance coordination among different departments.
The launch marks one of the biggest technology-driven upgrades in Chhattisgarh’s emergency services network in recent years, aiming to make policing faster, smarter and more efficient across the state.
