On Sunday, President Droupadi Murmu remarked that Andhra Pradesh is one of the states that stands out for its sensitivity to women.

She recalled poetess Molla, who wrote the wonderful epic "Molla-Ramayana" in her remarks after attending the civic event held in her honour here by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Murmu remembered Durgabai Deshmukh, who worked hard to advance women's status and encourage their participation in the struggle for freedom.

She also thought of Andhra Pradesh's daughter-in-law Sarojini Naidu.

The President noted that Sarojini Naidu was the first woman governor of any state in independent India and had a significant part in Mahatma Gandhi's "Salt Satyagraha."

She expressed her gratitude to the Andhra Pradesh government and people for their gracious hospitality during her first trip there as the President of India.

According to Droupadi Murmu, rivers including the Godavari, Krishna, Pennar, Vamsadhara, and Nagavali have benefited the Andhra region.

She emphasised the importance of these rivers in preserving Andhra Pradesh's rich cultural heritage and encouraged everyone to take care of and protect their river-mothers.
