Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi on Saturday said that all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces the Army, Navy, and Air Force are fully prepared for a possible “Operation Sindoor 2.0” if the situation demands it. He made the remarks after reviewing the Passing Out Parade of the 150th Course at the National Defence Academy in Pune.
Speaking to reporters, General Dwivedi stated that Operation Sindoor is still ongoing and that there is currently only a temporary cessation of hostilities. He emphasized that the armed forces remain alert and are continuously strengthening their readiness to respond to any future challenge. According to him, the three services are working closely together to improve coordination, operational efficiency, and preparedness for modern warfare.
The Army Chief highlighted how warfare has changed in recent years, noting that battlefields have become highly transparent due to advanced surveillance technologies. He said that military movements can now be monitored in real time, making it essential for forces to be extremely careful in deployment, operations, and the protection of both troops and civilians living in border regions.
General Dwivedi also stressed the growing importance of information warfare. He said that public trust plays a crucial role in national security and that a nation succeeds when citizens have confidence in the information shared by responsible institutions. He added that unity among the armed forces, government agencies, and the public remains a key factor in overcoming security challenges.
Addressing military reforms, the Army Chief said that the process of creating integrated theatre commands is progressing steadily. He revealed that discussions among the military leadership have been completed and that a detailed report has already been submitted to the Defence Minister for review. The proposed structure aims to improve joint operations by assigning theatre commanders responsibility for operational missions, while service chiefs focus on force readiness and long-term sustainment.
General Dwivedi expressed confidence that the next generation of military officers would take India’s defence capabilities to greater heights. He praised the NDA cadets and said their enthusiasm, discipline, and professionalism reflect the future strength of the country’s armed forces.
