Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb announced his resignation to Governor SN Arya on Saturday. The unexpected departure comes just months before state elections next year.

After meeting with the governor at the Raj Bhavan, Mr Deb made the news.

Biplab Deb was cited as saying, “The party wants me to try to strengthen the organisation.”

Following accusations of infighting inside the BJP’s state unit, the resignation was announced.

Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress, which has been fighting tooth and nail for votes in Tripura, was harsh in her condemnation of the outgoing Chief Minister.

“Goodbye and good riddance to the Chief Minister of #Tripura who failed thousands of people! Enough is enough. Even the highest brass at @BJP4India have had enough of his incompetence. The BJP appears to be shaken by what @AITCofficial has accomplished in the state. INEVITABLE CHANGE, “Trinamool Congress tweeted.

According to reports, the BJP legislature party in Tripura will meet later today to nominate a new leader.

The BJP legislature party in Tripura is expected to gather later today to elect a new leader, according to reports.

Bhupender Yadav and Vinod Tawde, both senior BJP officials, have been named as observers for the election of the legislature party leader in Tripura.

Senior BJP leaders Bhupender Yadav and Vinod Tawde have been chosen as observers for the election of the legislature party leader in Tripura.

Aside from them, the meeting will be attended by the party’s state incharge, Vinod Sonkar.

In 2018, Biplab Deb became the state’s first BJP Chief Minister, ending the Communist Party of India’s 25-year hegemony.
