The Gujarat Gaurav Yatra, a campaign by the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) to engage voters ahead of the state Assembly elections scheduled for this year's end, will begin on five separate routes on Wednesday. On Wednesday and Thursday, respectively, BJP President J P Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah will inaugurate the yatra.

Notably, Narendra Modi, the then-chief minister of Gujarat, led the first "Gaurav Yatra" after the racial riots and before the 2002 state Assembly elections. In advance of the state elections that year, the second "Gaurav Yatra" was planned.

Wednesday, Nadda will begin the yatra at the temple town of Dwarka. The Yatra will also travel from the Mehsana district temple town of Bahucharaji. Nitin Patel, a former deputy chief minister, would also be present, the BJP announced on Tuesday.

On Thursday, Shah will begin the yatra on three different routes, starting with the Sant Savaiyanath temple in Zanzarka Village in the Ahmedabad District and the Unai Mata shrine in Vansda Taluka in the Navsari District for the other two routes.

At various points, the Gaurav Yatra will be joined by several Union Ministers, including Prahlad Patel, Dharmendra Pradhan, Piyush Goyal, Mansukh Mandavia, Parshottam Rupala, and Anurag Thakur, as well as State Ministers and top BJP activists. To raise awareness of the government's policies and welfare programmes, the state BJP yesterday started "LED Rath" across all 182 Assembly districts.
