The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has registered a massive victory in the Gujarat municipal corporation elections, winning all 15 municipal corporations where polling was held, according to official and media reports.
The ruling party also achieved a complete clean sweep in newly formed civic bodies like Morbi and Porbandar, securing all seats in both corporations. This strong performance further consolidates BJP’s dominance in Gujarat’s urban local bodies ahead of upcoming political contests in the state.
As per election results, BJP retained its stronghold in major cities including Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar, Gandhidham, Mehsana, Anand, Nadiad, Navsari, and Vapi. The party’s performance was particularly overwhelming in key urban centres, where it secured large majorities in most corporations.
In Morbi Municipal Corporation, the BJP won all 52 seats, marking a complete sweep in one of the newly formed civic bodies. Similarly, in Porbandar, the party managed to capture all seats, leaving opposition parties with no representation in the corporation.
Across the state, the BJP’s performance remained dominant, with reports indicating that it secured over 50% vote share in most corporations and won a significant majority of total seats. The opposition, including Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), suffered major setbacks and failed to make substantial inroads in urban Gujarat.
Election officials stated that counting was conducted under tight security, with results being declared in phases. The civic polls covered thousands of seats across municipal corporations, municipalities, district panchayats, and taluka panchayats, making it one of the largest local body elections in the state.
Political observers say the results reinforce BJP’s continued dominance in Gujarat’s urban governance structure and reflect strong voter support for the ruling party’s administration at the state level.
With this clean sweep across all 15 municipal corporations, including Morbi and Porbandar, the BJP has once again strengthened its position as the leading political force in Gujarat’s local governance landscape.
