Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke on Tuesday accused the Delhi Police of using excessive force against student protesters during the "Sansad Chalo" march, alleging that those in uniform behaved like "goons." Addressing the media, Dipke said, "Gunde bhare the Delhi Police ki vardi mein kal" ("Yesterday, the Delhi Police uniform was filled with goons"), while condemning the police action against demonstrators.
Dipke alleged that police personnel used brutal force on students, including minors, during Monday's clashes. He claimed several protesters suffered head injuries and accused the authorities of targeting peaceful demonstrators instead of protecting them. He also criticised the alleged involvement of male police personnel in handling female protesters.
The remarks came a day after the CJP's march towards Parliament turned violent. According to Delhi Police, protesters attempted to breach security barricades, pelted stones, vandalised public property and attacked police personnel. Police said more than 118 officers and around 60 protesters were injured in the clashes, and several FIRs have been registered in connection with the violence.
Despite the crackdown, Dipke made it clear that the movement would continue. He said the organisation did not want more students to be injured but insisted it would not withdraw its agitation until its demands were addressed. The CJP is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG 2026 examination, along with broader reforms to the examination system.
The protests have drawn widespread political attention, with several opposition leaders criticising the police action. At the same time, the Centre has defended the security measures as necessary to maintain law and order. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a foolproof examination system, while the CJP has reiterated that its protests will continue until concrete action is taken on its demands.
