Ahead of the planned protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Saturday, Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) spokesperson Saurav Das said the group would cooperate fully with law enforcement authorities and seek the necessary permissions once founder Abhijeet Dipke lands in the national capital. The statement comes amid uncertainty over the status of official approval for the demonstration.
According to reports, the protest has been called by the CJP to press its demands related to education reforms and to seek accountability from Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The movement has urged supporters to maintain discipline and ensure that the gathering remains peaceful. Organizers have also issued guidelines asking participants to avoid confrontation and follow all legal instructions from authorities.
Delhi Police, however, stated on Friday that no formal request for permission to hold a protest at Jantar Mantar had been received from the organization at that time. Officials noted that demonstrations at the designated protest site require prior approval from the authorities.
Abhijeet Dipke, who has been travelling to India ahead of the proposed protest, said he was placing his faith in constitutional and democratic processes. Earlier, he also appealed to supporters not to gather at the airport upon his arrival, citing concerns over public inconvenience and security arrangements.
The planned demonstration has drawn attention from activists and public figures. Environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk has expressed support for the protest and said he would join the gathering, while warning against any action that could restrict peaceful democratic expression.
With the protest scheduled for today, attention is now focused on whether organizers obtain the required permission and how events unfold at Jantar Mantar in the coming hours.
