Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has warned that the movement will launch protests across multiple states and cities if Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan does not resign by June 13 over alleged irregularities in examinations and recruitment processes. Dipke said the agitation, which began with a major demonstration at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, will be expanded nationwide if their demands are not met.
In a video message and subsequent media interactions, Dipke stated that he would personally travel to different parts of the country to lead peaceful protests demanding Pradhan's resignation. According to him, the movement will intensify in phases, beginning with state-level demonstrations before culminating in another large gathering in New Delhi if the government fails to respond.
"We will not stop till Pradhan resigns," Dipke said, accusing the education minister of failing to address repeated examination and recruitment controversies that have affected millions of students. He argued that the minister should take moral responsibility for the alleged failures in the education system.
The CJP, which started as a satirical online campaign in May, has rapidly grown into a youth-driven movement attracting significant attention on social media. The group recently organized a protest at Jantar Mantar where participants wore cockroach masks and carried placards demanding accountability and reforms in the education sector. Protesters also called for transparency in examinations and recruitment processes.
Dipke emphasized that all future demonstrations would remain peaceful and democratic. Responding to comparisons with recent youth-led protests in neighboring countries, he said the CJP movement should not be equated with unrest elsewhere and insisted that its objective is constructive reform rather than disruption.
The movement has also received support from several public figures, including climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, who previously expressed solidarity with calls for reforms in the education system.
Meanwhile, security has been strengthened around key locations, including Dipke's residence and areas associated with recent protests, as authorities monitor the evolving situation. CJP leaders have given the government a one-week deadline, warning that failure to act could trigger coordinated demonstrations across India in the coming days.
