Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leader Dipke has strongly criticised the Centre over the alleged crackdown on student protesters, warning that his party will launch nationwide demonstrations if the government does not immediately halt police action against students.
Addressing party workers, Dipke accused the government of attempting to silence young voices through intimidation and force. "Shame on the government," he said, alleging that students exercising their democratic right to protest were being treated like criminals. He claimed that repeated police action against demonstrators reflected an unwillingness to engage with legitimate concerns raised by the youth.
The CJP leader said students have the constitutional right to express dissent peacefully and urged the Centre to withdraw cases filed against protesters. He also demanded the release of those detained during recent demonstrations, arguing that dialogue, rather than force, is the appropriate response to public unrest.
Warning of a larger agitation, Dipke said the party would organise protests across the country if the alleged crackdown continues. According to him, the movement would involve students, youth organisations and civil society groups, with the objective of defending democratic rights and freedom of expression.
The protests come amid continuing political tensions over student-led demonstrations on issues related to education, examination reforms and government policies. Opposition parties have accused the Centre of suppressing dissent, while several student organisations have demanded greater accountability and transparency in handling their concerns.
The Central government has defended the actions of law enforcement agencies, maintaining that police have acted according to the law to preserve public order. Authorities have stated that while peaceful protests are permitted, any attempt to disrupt normal life, damage public property or violate legal restrictions would invite appropriate action.
The latest warning from the CJP adds another political dimension to the ongoing debate over the handling of student protests. With the party threatening nationwide demonstrations, attention is now on whether the Centre will respond through dialogue or continue its current approach. As both sides remain firm in their positions, the issue is expected to remain a major political flashpoint in the coming days.
