In a shocking twist to a high-profile robbery case in the national capital, Delhi Police have revealed that the complainant himself was the mastermind behind the alleged theft of ₹54.5 lakh. The case, initially registered at Lahori Gate Police Station, was cracked after investigators uncovered major inconsistencies in the victim’s statement.
According to police, the case was reported on May 26, 2026, when the complainant claimed that a sum of ₹54.5 lakh had been robbed from him. Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation and began examining CCTV footage, technical evidence and witness statements. However, several discrepancies in the complainant’s version soon raised suspicion.
As the probe intensified, investigators used technical surveillance, scientific analysis and field intelligence to reconstruct the events surrounding the alleged robbery. The investigation ultimately revealed that the complainant had conspired with a group of associates to stage the robbery in an attempt to misappropriate the money.
Delhi Police then conducted extensive interstate operations across Rajasthan, Haryana and Uttarakhand to track down those involved in the conspiracy. Following coordinated raids, all six accused linked to the case were arrested. Officials said the operation required meticulous planning and cooperation between multiple police teams.
Police have also recovered ₹50 lakh from the accused, a significant portion of the amount allegedly robbed. Authorities stated that the recovery and arrests were made possible through detailed forensic examination, CCTV analysis and sustained surveillance efforts.
A senior police official said the case serves as an example of how modern investigative techniques can expose fabricated crimes and prevent attempts to mislead law enforcement agencies. The official added that investigators carefully examined every aspect of the complaint before uncovering the conspiracy.
Further investigation is underway to determine the exact motive behind the staged robbery and whether any additional individuals were involved. Police are also examining the financial trail connected to the recovered money and the roles played by each accused in planning and executing the conspiracy.
The case has drawn attention for the unusual role of the complainant, who initially approached police as a victim but was later identified as the key architect of the entire scheme. With six arrests and most of the money recovered, Delhi Police consider the case largely solved, though inquiries continue.
