The Delhi Police Special Cell has busted an alleged terror module linked to Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and arrested four suspected operatives from different parts of the country. A cache of arms and ammunition was also seized during the operation.
According to police officials, the accused had been under surveillance for several weeks following intelligence inputs about suspicious activities and possible plans to carry out terror-related acts in India. The coordinated operation was conducted at multiple locations, leading to the arrest of the four suspects.
During the raids, investigators recovered pistols, cartridges, mobile phones and other materials believed to be connected to the group's activities. Security agencies are also examining digital evidence, including communication records and financial transactions, to determine the extent of the network and identify other possible links.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the accused were allegedly working at the behest of handlers based in Pakistan. Police suspect that the operatives were involved in gathering sensitive information and coordinating activities on behalf of their handlers.
The arrested individuals are currently being interrogated by investigators. Officials have not ruled out the possibility of further arrests as the probe progresses. Security agencies are also trying to ascertain whether the module had links with any other groups or individuals operating within the country.
The four accused have been booked under various provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Arms Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. They are expected to be produced before a court, where the police will seek their custody for further questioning.
The latest operation comes amid heightened security concerns and continued efforts by law enforcement agencies to dismantle alleged cross-border terror networks. Officials said the investigation is still at a preliminary stage and more details are expected to emerge following the interrogation of the accused and analysis of the seized materials.
Senior police officers described the operation as a significant breakthrough in preventing potential terror activities and said security agencies remain on high alert to counter any threat to national security.
