The Delhi government is set to launch a dedicated online portal within the next few days to enable eligible electric vehicle (EV) buyers to apply for purchase and scrapping incentives under the newly notified Delhi EV Policy 2026. The portal is expected to go live next week and aims to make the subsidy process transparent, paperless and faster through a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
According to transport department officials, buyers seeking incentives will be required to upload the purchase certificate issued by authorised dealers along with other necessary documents. Those applying for scrappage incentives will also need to submit a certificate from an authorised vehicle scrapping facility and proof of purchasing a new electric vehicle. Once verified, the incentive amount will be credited directly to beneficiaries' bank accounts.
Under the Delhi EV Policy 2026, purchase incentives are available for electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers and N1 category electric goods vehicles. The policy also offers a scrappage incentive of up to ₹1 lakh for buyers replacing older vehicles with eligible electric cars. Additionally, electric cars priced up to ₹30 lakh will continue to enjoy 100% exemption from road tax and registration fees until March 2030.
Officials said applications for incentives must be submitted within 30 days of the generation of the vehicle's registration certificate (RC). The portal will later be expanded to provide real-time information on EV charging stations, authorised scrapping centres and dealership details across Delhi.
The Delhi EV Policy 2026, which came into effect on July 1, aims to accelerate the adoption of clean mobility and reduce vehicular pollution in the national capital. The government has earmarked around ₹15,000 crore over the next four years to support EV adoption, charging infrastructure and related ecosystem development.
