A tragic road accident in Delhi claimed the life of a food delivery agent after he fell from a flyover when his scooter was allegedly hit by a car, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place on the Dabri flyover in southwest Delhi during the early hours of the morning. According to police officials, a PCR call was received around 7:35 am reporting that a man had fallen from the flyover onto Pankha Road and required immediate medical attention.
A police team rushed to the spot and found a damaged scooter along with a car on the flyover. The injured delivery executive was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Initial investigations suggest that the victim lost control and fell off the flyover after his scooter was struck by a car. The driver of the vehicle allegedly fled the scene, making it a suspected hit-and-run case. Authorities have launched a search to trace and apprehend the accused driver.
The deceased has been identified as Rajkumar, a native of Jharkhand’s Godda district. He was working as a delivery executive for a private food service company in Delhi. Police said his body has been preserved in a mortuary for post-mortem examination.
Officials also revealed that the car involved in the accident bears a Delhi registration number and is registered in the name of a resident of the Dabri area. This detail is expected to aid investigators in tracking down the driver who fled after the collision.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the fatal accident. Police are also examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to reconstruct the incident and identify the accused.
The incident highlights the growing risks faced by delivery workers on busy urban roads, especially during early hours when visibility and traffic conditions can be unpredictable. It also raises concerns about road safety and the increasing number of hit-and-run cases in metropolitan cities.
Authorities have assured that strict action will be taken once the accused driver is identified and apprehended.
