A major fire broke out at a residential flat in Aranya Society, a high-rise housing complex in Sector 119 of Noida, on Monday morning, triggering panic among residents and prompting a large-scale emergency response. Officials said the blaze erupted on the 21st floor of one of the towers, with thick black smoke visible from several kilometres away.
Around six fire tenders were rushed to the spot immediately after the incident was reported. Firefighters launched an extensive operation to contain the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby apartments. Authorities said residents of the affected tower were evacuated as a precautionary measure.
Initial reports suggest that an air-conditioner explosion may have triggered the fire, though the exact cause is yet to be officially confirmed. Fire department officials and police teams are conducting an investigation into the incident.
Despite the intensity of the blaze, no casualties or injuries have been reported so far. Residents described scenes of panic as families hurried out of the building while emergency personnel worked to bring the situation under control. The housing complex, which accommodates thousands of residents, witnessed heavy security deployment during the operation.
The incident has once again raised concerns about fire safety measures in high-rise residential buildings in the National Capital Region. Authorities are expected to inspect the building's fire safety systems and assess the extent of the damage once the cooling operations are completed.
