Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin, alleging that his politics is “divisive” and “anti-India,” while expressing strong confidence that the NDA alliance will secure victory in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Addressing party workers and supporters during campaign events in Tamil Nadu, Goyal accused the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam government of promoting divisive narratives and failing to focus on development. He claimed that the people of the state are ready for change and are increasingly supporting the opposition alliance led by the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Goyal asserted that there is a growing “pro-NDA sentiment” across Tamil Nadu, echoing similar claims made by other alliance leaders in recent days. He said the BJP and its allies, including the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, are working together to offer what he described as a governance model focused on development, transparency, and inclusive growth.
The Union Minister also highlighted the Centre’s welfare schemes and infrastructure initiatives, arguing that a “double-engine government” would accelerate progress in the state. He urged voters to support the NDA to ensure better coordination between the state and the Centre.
Responding to the remarks, leaders from the DMK dismissed the allegations, accusing the BJP of attempting to polarise voters for electoral gains. They maintained that the Stalin-led government has delivered on welfare, social justice, and economic development, and expressed confidence of retaining power.
As campaigning intensifies ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, sharp exchanges between political leaders continue to dominate the narrative. With both the ruling alliance and the opposition projecting confidence, the state is set for a closely contested electoral battle in the coming weeks.
