New Delhi: In a major breakthrough in a national security investigation, agencies have uncovered an alleged terror module linked to Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) that was reportedly planning coordinated attacks on multiple high-security and public locations in Delhi and nearby regions.
According to officials involved in the probe, the module had shortlisted sensitive targets including a prominent temple in Delhi, a roadside dhaba frequented by civilians, and a military camp in the national capital region. Investigators believe the plan was aimed at creating widespread panic by striking both symbolic religious sites and strategic defence installations.
Security agencies launched the investigation after intercepting suspicious communications between operatives in India and alleged handlers across the border. These communications reportedly revealed instructions for reconnaissance of crowded public places, surveillance of military movements, and identification of soft targets for potential attacks.
Preliminary findings suggest that the group was attempting to radicalise and recruit local youths while also arranging logistics for explosives and weapons. Officials said encrypted messaging platforms were used to coordinate activities, making the module harder to detect in its early stages.
Sources further stated that the module had conducted preliminary surveys of certain areas in Delhi, including routes near religious sites and roadside eateries, which are often heavily crowded. A military installation on the outskirts of the city was also under surveillance, raising concerns about a dual strategy targeting both civilians and security forces.
The case came to light as part of a broader crackdown on cross-border terror networks, with multiple arrests made in related operations across northern India. Agencies are now working to map the full network, including financial channels and local facilitators who may have supported the module.
Officials have not disclosed the exact number of arrests but confirmed that interrogations are ongoing. Forensic analysis of seized digital devices is expected to provide further details about planning, timing, and potential execution methods.
Security across sensitive locations in Delhi and adjoining states has been heightened as a precautionary measure. Authorities have urged the public to remain alert but not panic, assuring that timely intelligence inputs helped avert possible attacks.
The investigation is continuing, and agencies are treating the matter as part of a larger effort to dismantle ISI-backed terror infrastructure operating within India.
