Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday evening for a three-day official visit to India, where she will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and participate in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit.
Takaichi was received at the airport by Union Minister of State Jitendra Singh. This marks her first official visit to India since assuming office as Japan's Prime Minister in October 2025.
During the visit, the two leaders are expected to discuss a wide range of issues, including trade, investment, defence cooperation, semiconductors, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, energy security and Indo-Pacific stability. Several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are also expected to be signed.
Prime Minister Modi welcomed Takaichi's visit, saying it would further strengthen the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership and deepen cooperation for peace, stability and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
