The main accused in the recent violent workers’ protest in Noida has been apprehended from Tamil Nadu, marking a major breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into the large-scale unrest that shook parts of Uttar Pradesh earlier this month.
According to police officials, the accused identified as Aditya Anand was arrested by a joint team of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and Noida Police from Tiruchirappalli Railway Station in Tamil Nadu. Authorities confirmed that he had been on the run after being named as the alleged mastermind behind the violent incidents during the workers’ protest.
The protest in Noida had turned chaotic, with reports of vandalism, arson, and clashes between workers and police. Several vehicles were torched, and public property was damaged during the unrest, prompting a large-scale police response and multiple arrests across the district.
Officials stated that Anand was being tracked across multiple states after intelligence inputs suggested he had left the National Capital Region. A reward had also been announced earlier for information leading to his arrest. Investigators believe he played a key role in mobilising protestors and allegedly inciting sections of the crowd during the agitation.
Preliminary police findings suggest that the accused may have used digital platforms to coordinate groups and spread mobilisation messages ahead of the protest. Authorities are now examining electronic evidence, mobile data, and communication records as part of the wider investigation.
The arrest is being seen as significant, as law enforcement agencies continue to probe the broader network behind the unrest. Police officials have indicated that further questioning of the accused may help identify other individuals involved in planning or supporting the violent activities.
Meanwhile, security has been tightened in sensitive areas of Noida and Greater Noida as a precautionary measure. Authorities have also reiterated their appeal for peace, stressing that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in5 violence or destruction of public property.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials have said more arrests are possible as the case develops across multiple states.
