Jamshedpur: In a deeply disturbing incident, a man allegedly killed his wife, pregnant daughter, and son using an axe in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, police said on Monday.
According to preliminary reports, the incident took place in a residential area under local police jurisdiction, where neighbours alerted authorities after hearing screams from inside the house. When police reached the spot, they found three bodies lying inside the residence, all bearing severe injuries consistent with a sharp-edged weapon attack.
The accused, identified as a family member, was later taken into custody by the police after being overpowered. Officials said the weapon believed to have been used in the attack has been recovered from the scene.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the incident may have been triggered by a domestic dispute, though officials have stated that the exact motive will be confirmed only after a detailed interrogation of the accused and statements from relatives and neighbours.
The victims included the man’s wife, his daughter who was reportedly pregnant, and his son. Police have described the crime as extremely brutal, and forensic teams have been called in to collect evidence from the crime scene.
