Kolkata: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to intensify his election campaign in West Bengal on Sunday by addressing four major public rallies across the state, as the political battle ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections heats up.
According to BJP sources and official campaign schedules, Modi’s rallies are planned in key districts of the state, with a focus on strengthening the party’s presence in both North and South Bengal. The visits are part of a broader strategy by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to consolidate support in constituencies where the party is aiming to improve its performance compared to previous elections.
The Prime Minister’s campaign in West Bengal has already seen a series of high-energy meetings in recent weeks, covering industrial belts, rural constituencies, and politically sensitive regions. Sunday’s schedule is expected to include mass gatherings where Modi will highlight the Centre’s development schemes, infrastructure projects, and governance agenda.
Political observers say that the rallies are being seen as crucial for the BJP’s attempt to challenge the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) ahead of the polls. The state is witnessing a high-voltage political contest, with both parties ramping up campaigns, public meetings, and outreach programmes.
In his earlier addresses in the state, Modi has focused on issues such as law and order, corruption allegations, employment generation, and development initiatives. He has also repeatedly urged voters to support what he describes as “double-engine government” benefits—coordination between the Centre and state governments for faster development.
The TMC, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, has dismissed the BJP’s campaign claims, accusing the ruling party at the Centre of political targeting and misinformation. The ongoing exchange of allegations between the two sides has further intensified the electoral atmosphere.
Security arrangements have been tightened at all rally venues, with large crowds expected to attend. Police and local administration officials are coordinating to ensure smooth conduct of the events.
With the election season gaining momentum, Modi’s four-rally schedule on Sunday is being viewed as a key political push aimed at energising party workers and voters across West Bengal.
