The Madhya Pradesh administration has ordered a formal inquiry into alleged financial irregularities involving donations at the renowned Maa Baglamukhi Temple in Nalkheda, located in Agar Malwa district. The move follows complaints alleging that devotees' offerings were being collected and managed outside the official temple administration.
Agar Malwa Collector Preeti Yadav has constituted a three-member inquiry committee to investigate the allegations. The panel is headed by District Panchayat CEO B. S. Solanki, with District Treasury Officer Manish Solanki and Nalkheda Municipal Council Chief Municipal Officer Mini Agrawal serving as members. The committee has been directed to submit its report within seven days.
According to the complaints, a non-governmental committee allegedly collected cash donations, gold and silver ornaments from devotees through private bank accounts, operating separately from the government-appointed temple management committee. The administration described the allegations as serious and said a thorough and impartial investigation is necessary to establish the facts.
The controversy has also sparked a political confrontation in the state. Opposition leaders have demanded strict action and greater transparency in the management of temple funds, while the ruling BJP has maintained that the inquiry will uncover the truth and ensure accountability if any wrongdoing is found.
The Maa Baglamukhi Temple is one of Madhya Pradesh's most prominent Hindu pilgrimage sites, attracting thousands of devotees throughout the year. Officials have assured that the investigation will be conducted fairly and that appropriate action will be taken based on the committee's findings.
