Bulandshahr: A Pakistani national has been detained in Bulandshahr of Uttar Pradesh for allegedly staying in India without valid documentation, police officials said on Friday.

According to authorities, the individual had been living in the area for some time and was taken into custody during a routine verification drive. Preliminary investigation revealed that his visa had either expired or he had entered the country without proper authorization, prompting legal action under relevant provisions of the Foreigners Act.

Police officials stated that the accused is currently being interrogated to ascertain details about his entry, duration of stay, and possible local contacts. Security agencies have also been alerted, and background checks are being conducted to rule out any suspicious links.

Local police have intensified verification efforts in the region following the incident, focusing on identifying foreign nationals residing without proper documents. Officials emphasised that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating immigration laws.

The detained individual is expected to be produced before a court, after which further legal procedures, including possible deportation, will be initiated as per government guidelines.

Authorities reiterated the importance of adhering to visa norms and maintaining valid travel documents while staying in the country, warning that violations can lead to detention and prosecution.
