A fresh political controversy has erupted in West Bengal after a BJP MLA made strong remarks against Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, calling her the “head of criminals” in connection with the RG Kar Medical College case. The comments have triggered sharp reactions from political circles and intensified the already heated debate around the incident.

The MLA’s remarks came during a public interaction where criticism was directed at the state government over its handling of the RG Kar case. The legislator alleged that there were serious lapses in investigation and administrative response, and demanded accountability at the highest level.

Adding to the political tension, the mother of the RG Kar victim also reportedly demanded the arrest of former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, alleging that justice has not been delivered even after repeated assurances. Her statement has further intensified public outrage and emotional reactions surrounding the case.

The ruling party strongly condemned the remarks, calling them politically motivated and disrespectful. Leaders said such statements were aimed at creating confusion and undermining public trust in state institutions. They reiterated that the investigation process is being handled as per legal procedures and under judicial oversight.

Opposition leaders, however, continued to raise questions over the progress of the case, alleging delays and irregularities in the investigation process. They demanded a transparent probe and accountability from senior officials involved in handling the matter.

Police officials have not issued any direct response to the political statements but maintained that the investigation is ongoing and all necessary procedures are being followed. Authorities also urged political leaders not to make statements that could influence or disturb the legal process.

The RG Kar case has remained a highly sensitive issue in West Bengal, sparking protests from various groups including students, doctors and civil society organisations. It has also become a focal point of political confrontation between the ruling party and the opposition.

Meanwhile, calls for justice continue from different quarters, with demands for a speedy conclusion of the investigation and strict action against those found responsible. Officials said updates will be provided as the legal process moves forward.
