A shocking case of domestic violence has emerged from Rajasthan’s Bhilwara district, where a five-month pregnant woman allegedly died after being brutally assaulted and force-fed abortion pills by her husband.
According to police, the incident took place in the Hamirgarh area on Wednesday night. The accused, identified as Gopi Singh Yadav, allegedly beat his 41-year-old wife, Roli Devi, for several hours following a domestic dispute. Investigators said the woman later suffered a miscarriage and excessive bleeding, which ultimately led to her death.
Police said the couple’s 14-year-old daughter gave a statement claiming that her father repeatedly assaulted her mother throughout the day in front of the children. She further alleged that the accused went to the market, brought abortion pills and forcibly administered them to the victim, worsening her condition.
Doctors involved in the post-mortem reportedly described the condition of the body as “shocking”, stating that there were more than a dozen injury marks on the woman’s head, face, waist and private parts, indicating sustained physical violence. Medical experts also found signs suggesting a forced abortion.
Hospital officials said the woman was brought in with severe blood loss and critical injuries, but despite medical efforts, she could not be saved.
Police have arrested the accused husband and registered a case based on the daughter’s complaint. Officials said preliminary investigation points towards ongoing domestic tensions between the couple, though the exact motive is still being probed.
The couple had four children, all of whom were reportedly present inside the house during the incident. Following the woman’s death, relatives from Uttar Pradesh reached Bhilwara and the body was handed over to the family after post-mortem examination.
