Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati on Saturday confirmed that she will back Droupadi Murmu, an NDA candidate for presidential polls.
Mayawati while talking to the media said, “Our party has decided to back NDA’s Presidential election candidate Draupadi Murmu. “
She also made it clear that the decision was not taken to extend support for BJP. Also, BSP said that they have no intention of going against the opposition.
“We have not decided to support BJP or NDA neither to go against the opposition. We have given our support to Murmu while keeping the party’s movement in mind”, Mayawati said.
After getting support from Mayawati, Murmu has garnered enough numbers to be elected as the next president of India. She will be the second female president of India after Pratibha Patil.
