A private aircraft reportedly crashed into the Ara Mountain area in Chhattisgarh’s Jashpur district on Monday, triggering a major emergency response and panic among locals after thick smoke and flames were seen rising from the crash site.
According to preliminary reports, the incident took place in a forested hilly region near Ara Hill under the Narayanpur police station limits. The aircraft is believed to have gone down in a remote stretch of the Ratanpahli forest area, close to Khurasagarha village.
Eyewitnesses in nearby villages reported seeing a low-flying aircraft moments before a loud impact, followed by a massive fire on the hillside. Visuals from the location showed dense black smoke and bright flames spreading rapidly across the crash zone, making it visible from a distance.
Local residents immediately alerted authorities, following which police, fire services, and rescue teams were rushed to the spot. Officials are currently trying to assess the situation, including the exact type of aircraft, number of people onboard, and possible casualties. However, no official confirmation has yet been released regarding the condition of passengers or crew.
Preliminary inputs suggest that the aircraft may have been flying at a very low altitude over the hilly terrain before it struck either a tree or the slope of the mountain and crashed. The difficult forest terrain and ongoing fire have made rescue operations challenging.
Security forces have cordoned off the area as investigation teams begin examining the crash site. Authorities are also working to confirm flight details and ownership of the aircraft.
Meanwhile, confusion continues over the exact sequence of events, as officials have not yet confirmed whether it was a scheduled flight or a chartered private aircraft. Some reports suggest that the aircraft lost control shortly before impact, but these claims are still under verification.
Further details are awaited as rescue operations and official investigations continue in the Ara Mountain crash site.
