Quad Summit 2022: “Quad is ensuring peace, prosperity, and stability in the Indo-Pacific” says PM Modi

PM Modi underlined that the Quad countries have shown coordination in several areas like climate change, vaccine delivery, supply change resilience, disaster management, and economic cooperation

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday attended the second in-person Quad summit in Japan. Apart from the Indian prime minister, leaders of the United States, Japan, and Australia participated in the summit.



Addressing the summit, PM Modi opened his speech by saying that the Quad has gained an important place in a short period, and it is strengthening the cooperation between Indo-Pacific regions. 



“The increased coordination between members of the Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, or Quad, is ensuring peace, prosperity, and stability in the Indo-Pacific, and the grouping has a constructive agenda that strengthens its image as a force for good, Prime Minister Narendra Modi.



PM Modi underlined that the Quad countries have shown coordination in several areas like climate change, vaccine delivery, supply change resilience, disaster management, and economic cooperation.



US President Biden, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and Australia's newly-elected Prime Minister Anthony Albanese attended the meeting.



US President Joe Biden while addressing the summit said that Washington would stand with its "close domestic partners" to push for a free and open Indo-Pacific region. 



"Russia's assault of Ukraine only heightens the importance of those goals of fundamental principles of international order, territorial integrity, and sovereignty," Biden said. 



Talking about the Russian invasion, Japanese Prime Minister Kishida said "We should never allow a similar incident to happen in the Indo-Pacific region."



Besides attending Quad Summit, PM Modi also held a bilateral meeting with President Biden, Japanese PM Kishida, and his Australian counterpart Anthony Albanese.
