Veteran politician N. Rangasamy took oath as the Chief Minister of Puducherry for the fifth time on Wednesday, marking another significant milestone in his long political career. The swearing-in ceremony was held amid celebrations by supporters and party workers across the Union Territory.

The oath-taking event was attended by senior political leaders, government officials and supporters from different parts of Puducherry. Rangasamy was administered the oath of office and secrecy at a formal ceremony conducted under tight security arrangements.

With this development, Rangasamy once again assumes leadership of the Union Territory administration, reinforcing his position as one of Puducherry’s most influential political figures. Known for his strong grassroots connection and administrative experience, he continues to enjoy considerable support among sections of the public.

Supporters gathered near the venue carrying party flags and raising slogans in celebration after the ceremony concluded. Several party workers described the occasion as an emotional and historic moment for the National Democratic Alliance in Puducherry.

Political leaders from different parties congratulated Rangasamy following his swearing-in. Messages of support and good wishes also poured in from various regional and national leaders after the ceremony.

Rangasamy’s return as Chief Minister is expected to bring renewed focus on infrastructure development, welfare schemes, tourism and employment generation in the Union Territory. During recent political campaigns, development-related issues and governance remained key talking points among parties contesting in Puducherry.

Officials indicated that the formation of the new council of ministers and portfolio allocation could take place soon. Administrative preparations are also reportedly underway for the new government to begin functioning formally.

Over the years, Rangasamy has built a reputation for maintaining a relatively simple public image and focusing on welfare-oriented governance. His political journey has played a major role in shaping Puducherry’s contemporary political landscape.

Political observers believe his fifth term as Chief Minister will be closely watched, particularly regarding relations with alliance partners and implementation of development projects in the Union Territory.

The swearing-in ceremony marked the beginning of a new political chapter in Puducherry, with the new administration expected to outline its governance priorities in the coming days.
