Security arrangements have been intensified across several parts of Delhi ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) planned protest at Jantar Mantar on Saturday. Delhi Police and other security agencies are closely monitoring the situation as thousands of supporters are expected to gather in the national capital.
The protest, led by CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, is centered on demands related to alleged examination irregularities and calls for accountability from the Union Education Ministry. The movement has gained significant traction among students and young people through social media campaigns over the past few months.
According to Delhi Police, no formal request for permission had been received as of Friday, although CJP leaders have stated that they intend to cooperate with authorities and seek the necessary approval before proceeding with the demonstration.
Authorities are maintaining heightened vigilance around Jantar Mantar, key transport hubs, and other sensitive locations to ensure law and order. The increased security comes amid concerns about large crowds and potential traffic disruptions in central Delhi. A petition seeking preventive action against the protest was also mentioned before the Delhi High Court, citing possible public safety and traffic concerns, though the court declined an urgent hearing.
Meanwhile, CJP has repeatedly urged supporters to remain peaceful, follow police instructions, stay hydrated, and avoid any confrontation. The organization has also asked supporters not to gather at Delhi airport and instead focus on the planned protest venue.
The protest has attracted support from several public figures, including environmental activist Sonam Wangchuk, who has indicated that he may join the gathering in solidarity.
With Abhijeet Dipke already in India and organizers preparing for the event, all eyes are now on Jantar Mantar as authorities assess the situation and await any formal request for permission from the organizers.
