Panic gripped several villages in Uttar Pradesh’s Budaun district after a gang of semi-naked dacoits allegedly carried out a series of robberies at multiple houses in a single night. The incidents took place in the Civil Lines police station area, leaving residents terrified and prompting a massive police search operation.
According to police officials, the armed gang targeted several homes during the late-night hours and looted cash, jewellery and other valuables. The attackers reportedly covered their faces while remaining semi-naked to avoid identification and create fear among villagers.
Residents claimed the dacoits entered houses by breaking doors and threatened family members with weapons before fleeing with the stolen items. Some villagers alleged that the gang moved from one locality to another within a short span of time, carrying out robberies in a coordinated manner.
Police reached the affected areas soon after receiving information and launched an investigation. Senior officers inspected the crime scenes and questioned local residents to gather clues about the gang’s movements and possible escape routes.
Authorities said five special police teams have been formed to trace and arrest the accused. Surveillance teams are examining CCTV footage from nearby roads and markets, while forensic experts have also collected evidence from the robbery sites.
Police officials stated that checkpoints have been intensified in and around Budaun district and nearby areas to prevent the gang from escaping. Raids are also being conducted at multiple locations based on local intelligence inputs.
The back-to-back robberies have created fear among villagers, with many residents demanding increased night patrolling and stronger security measures. Additional police personnel have reportedly been deployed in vulnerable areas to restore confidence among locals.
Officials assured that the accused would be identified and arrested soon, adding that efforts are underway to recover the stolen valuables and determine whether the gang was involved in similar crimes in neighbouring districts.
