Union Minister Suresh Gopi has said that many development schemes implemented by the Central Government have not delivered their intended benefits to the people of Kerala. Speaking at a public event, he alleged that several welfare and infrastructure initiatives launched by the Centre have not been effectively implemented at the grassroots level in the state.
The minister claimed that despite substantial financial allocations and policy support from the Union Government, the benefits of various schemes have not reached all eligible beneficiaries in Kerala. He stressed the need for better coordination between the Centre and the state administration to ensure that development projects are implemented efficiently and transparently.
Gopi further stated that the Central Government remains committed to the development of Kerala and is continuing to invest in sectors such as infrastructure, housing, healthcare, education and social welfare. He argued that people should receive the full benefits of schemes regardless of political differences between governments.
The remarks come amid continuing political debate over the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes in Kerala. Leaders of the ruling alliance in the state have often accused the Centre of inadequate financial support, while BJP leaders have maintained that several central initiatives have not been properly executed by the state machinery.
The Union Minister also called for greater public awareness about welfare programmes and urged eligible citizens to take advantage of the opportunities available under various Central Government schemes. His comments are likely to intensify the ongoing political discussion over governance and development ahead of future electoral contests in the state.
