Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Tuesday warned that his party would launch a statewide protest across Bihar from July 30 if the cases registered against student protesters are not withdrawn. The warning comes amid growing political tensions over the alleged police action against students protesting examination paper leaks and recruitment irregularities.
Addressing reporters, Tejashwi accused the Bihar government of targeting students instead of addressing their concerns. He demanded the immediate withdrawal of all cases filed against protesters, alleging that peaceful demonstrations were met with excessive force and intimidation.
The former Deputy Chief Minister said students had taken to the streets seeking transparency and accountability in the examination system. He argued that the government should focus on ensuring fair recruitment and preventing paper leaks rather than initiating legal action against young aspirants.
Tejashwi also criticised the state administration over the handling of recent protests, claiming that students were subjected to unnecessary police action. He warned that if the government failed to withdraw the cases before July 30, the RJD would organise protests across Bihar in support of the agitating students.
The warning comes as political parties continue to raise the issue of alleged paper leaks and police action during the ongoing Monsoon Session of Parliament. Opposition leaders have demanded accountability from both the Centre and the Bihar government, while calling for greater transparency in the conduct of public examinations.
The Bihar government has maintained that law and order will be enforced in accordance with the law, while investigations into incidents related to the student protests and examination irregularities are underway. The standoff is expected to intensify as the July 30 deadline set by the RJD approaches.
