Three people lost their lives in a tragic road accident after a truck and a car collided head-on in Gurugram, officials said on Thursday. The incident took place on a busy stretch of road where early-morning traffic was moving at high speed.
According to preliminary information, the car was heading towards its destination when it reportedly veered into the opposite lane and crashed directly into an oncoming truck. The impact of the collision was so severe that the front portion of the car was completely mangled, leaving the occupants trapped inside.
Local residents and passers-by immediately alerted the police and emergency services. Rescue teams reached the spot and had to cut through the wreckage to retrieve the victims. All three occupants of the car were declared dead on the spot due to the severity of their injuries.
The truck driver reportedly survived the crash and was taken into custody for questioning. Police officials have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident, including whether overspeeding, driver fatigue, or a possible mechanical failure contributed to the collision.
Traffic on the road was disrupted for some time as authorities cleared the wreckage and restored normal flow. The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination, and their identities are being confirmed and communicated to their families.
Road accidents remain a serious concern in Gurugram and surrounding regions, where increasing vehicular movement and high-speed highways often lead to fatal collisions. Authorities have repeatedly urged drivers to follow speed limits and adhere to lane discipline, especially on arterial roads and highways.
Police have stated that further legal action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation. Meanwhile, officials have also appealed to motorists to exercise caution and avoid risky driving behaviour, particularly during early morning and late-night hours when visibility and alertness may be reduced.
The tragic incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for stricter road safety measures and better enforcement to prevent such fatal accidents in the future.
