Three people were killed and seven others seriously injured after two SUVs collided head-on on the Delhi-Lucknow National Highway in Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district on Sunday night. The accident occurred near the Garh Kotwali area when one of the vehicles reportedly crossed into the opposite lane, leading to a devastating crash.
According to police, the impact of the collision was so severe that three occupants died on the spot, while the seven injured passengers were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Emergency services, local residents and police personnel worked together to rescue those trapped inside the mangled vehicles.
Officials said the injured include men, women and children, with some reported to be in critical condition. The victims were travelling in separate SUVs when the accident took place. Authorities are working to verify the identities of all those involved and have informed their families.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the cause of the crash. Preliminary findings suggest that one of the SUVs may have crossed the divider before colliding with the oncoming vehicle, although investigators are also examining factors such as speed, driver error and road conditions.
