The investigation into the death of model-turned-actor Twisha Sharma has entered a crucial phase after a team of doctors from AIIMS Delhi arrived in Bhopal to conduct a second autopsy. Twisha’s family has expressed renewed hope that the fresh medical examination will uncover the truth behind her death and ensure justice.
Twisha Sharma, a resident of Noida and former Miss Pune winner, was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills area on May 12, just months after marrying advocate Samarth Singh in December 2025. Her family has alleged dowry harassment, mental torture and suspicious circumstances surrounding her death.
Speaking to the media, Twisha’s father Navnidhi Sharma said he has faith in the AIIMS medical team and believes they will conduct an unbiased investigation. He reportedly said that the family is confident the doctors will “bring justice” and reveal the real cause of death.
The second autopsy was ordered following directions from the Madhya Pradesh High Court after the family raised concerns over the first post-mortem report. A four-member forensic team from AIIMS Delhi was flown to Bhopal to carry out the examination, highlighting the seriousness and sensitivity of the case.
Meanwhile, the case has also reached the Supreme Court, which has taken suo motu cognisance of the matter. The apex court is expected to hear the case amid allegations of institutional bias and procedural lapses during the initial investigation.
Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh has been sent to seven-day police custody for questioning. Investigators are examining several aspects of the case, including the couple’s relationship, alleged domestic disputes, call records, CCTV footage and events leading up to Twisha’s death.
Family members have stated that Twisha had future travel plans and was scheduled to meet her brother in Ajmer just days after her death, raising further questions about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Twisha’s relatives have also said that her last rites will only be performed after all medical procedures and investigations are completed. The case continues to attract nationwide attention, with growing demands for a transparent and independent probe.
