The Ghaziabad district administration has sealed two madrasas operating in the Kanawani Colony area of Loni, alleging that the institutions were functioning without the necessary permissions and registration required under state regulations.
According to officials, a joint team comprising revenue, education, and local administration authorities conducted an inspection of the premises following complaints and verification drives being carried out in the district. During the inspection, authorities reportedly found that the two madrasas lacked valid documentation and approvals needed to run educational institutions.
District officials stated that notices had previously been issued to the managements seeking clarification and relevant records. After the institutions allegedly failed to provide satisfactory documents, the administration proceeded with sealing the premises under applicable legal provisions.
The action is part of an ongoing verification campaign in Uttar Pradesh aimed at checking the registration status, infrastructure, and compliance of educational and religious institutions. Officials said the drive is intended to ensure that all institutions operate in accordance with established rules and regulations.
Local authorities maintained that the action was administrative in nature and based on legal and regulatory considerations rather than the religious character of the institutions. They added that further inquiries would determine whether additional violations had occurred and whether any further action is warranted.
The sealing of the madrasas has drawn attention from local residents and community leaders. Some have called for transparency in the investigation and urged authorities to ensure that students' education is not adversely affected. Others have supported the administration's move, arguing that all educational institutions must comply with legal requirements regardless of their affiliation.
Officials said records related to student enrollment, management structure, and institutional registration are being examined as part of the ongoing investigation. The administration has also indicated that the institutions may be allowed to seek relief through the appropriate legal and administrative channels if they can produce the required documentation.
The incident comes amid broader efforts by authorities in Uttar Pradesh to identify and regulate unregistered educational establishments. District officials have reiterated that institutions found operating without authorization may face similar action in accordance with the law.
Meanwhile, the Ghaziabad administration has assured that the matter will be handled in accordance with due process, and further developments will depend on the outcome of the ongoing inquiry into the functioning of the two sealed madrasas.
