Agnipath recruitment row: Top brass Congress leaders stage protest at Jantar Mantar

Comparing the Agnipath scheme with farmer’s law, Digvijay Singh said, "First the government forced farmers to come out on roads and now the youth have taken to roads to display their protest against the government. I request you not to be stubborn. I appeal to the government to leave your arrogance because Agneepath will not be successful."

As the nation is witnessing an escalation in discontent against the Agnipath scheme for recruitment in defense forces, the Congress party has marked a protest in the form of “Satyagraha” at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on Sunday.

Several top brass Congress leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi and Sachin Pilot, were marked their protest against the recruitment scheme.

During the Satyagraha, senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh slammed the newly introduced recruitment scheme and bashed the government for giving false hopes to the youth.

Over the Agnipath scheme, Rahul Gandhi also targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He alleged that the government is continuously giving false hopes to the unemployed youth.

Meanwhile, amid the escalating protests, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a meeting with the chiefs of the army. The Indian Air Force has also released details about the eligibility criterion, selection process, and the benefits of the controversial recruitment scheme.
