Arvind Kejriwal defeated in Delhi elections

AAP chief and former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal lost to BJP’s Parvesh Verma, son of another former CM, by 3,182 votes in his New Delhi bastion. The IAS-turned-politician who rose to prominence with Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement is down by a huge margin. 

Kejriwal’s loss is AAP’s loss and BJP is set to return to the national capital after a gap of 27 years.

Kejriwal was battling corruption charges and Sheesh Mahal controversy and won the New Delhi seat for the first time in 2013 after defeating the then Delhi CM and veteran Congress leader Sheila Dikshit. 

He won the seat in 2015 and 2020 with a big margin.
