On Thursday, by-elections will be conducted in seven Assembly districts across six states. Adampur in Haryana, Andheri East in Maharashtra, Gopalganj and Mokama in Bihar, Munugode in Telangana, Gola Gokarannath in Uttar Pradesh, and Dhamnagar in Odisha are the seven Assembly seats that will vote.

In the Assembly bypolls, the incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is locked in a battle with regional parties such as the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Samajwadi Party (SP), and the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). The seats of Andheri East, Gola Gokrannath, and Dhamnagar also became vacant owing to the death of their respective parliamentarians.

The resignations of Kuldeep Bishnoi in Haryana and K Rajagopal Reddy in Telangana created openings in the Adampur and Munugode constituencies, respectively.

This would be the first election following the Shiv Sena mutiny led by Eknath Shinde and 39 other lawmakers, which resulted in the fall of the Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) administration.

The election in Telangana's Munugode Assembly constituency is critical for all of the state's main parties, including the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress.

Kuldeep Bishnoi, the son of former Haryana Chief Minister Chaudhary Bhajan Lal, recently resigned from the Congress and joined the BJP. Kuldeep Bishnoi resigned, leaving Adampur's seat vacant. Bishnoi believes Adampur’s seat to be a stronghold.

The by-elections will be held from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., under heavy security, and the results will be counted on November 6.
